Pacific Patch
Back to Sustainability
Welcome to the Pacific Patch
The Pacific Patch is Naturally Pacific Resort’s very own on-site agricultural project. What began in the spring of 2021 as a modest 5,000 ft² veggie garden has since evolved into a thriving 140,000+ ft² ecosystem of fresh food, innovation, and sustainability.
Originally built to supply vegetables for our Velocity Lounge & Driving Range buffet nights, the Patch now supports Carve Kitchen + Meatery as well as Sunset Terrace Patio + Grill with seasonal produce, microgreens, and even honey.
What You'll Find in the Pacific Patch
Vegetable and Berry Rows (15,000 ft²)
A mix of hearty greens, seasonal favorites, and vibrant berries grown from seed right here on site.
Orchard (5,000 ft²)
Young fruit trees planted for the future: apples, plums, pears, and more.
Greenhouse (2,450 ft²)
A year-round growing hub. Featuring a misting system, thermal mass barrels for temperature control, and raised Hugelkultur beds. This space helps us overwinter plants and produce food even in the off-season.
SeaCan Microgreen Farm (160 ft²)
Converted container farm for nutrient-rich microgreens, packed with flavor and harvested fresh for Carve’s seasonal dishes.
Bee Hives
Two active hives: one right in the garden, another by the 16th tee box. We manage the bees ourselves and harvest the honey for use in Carve’s cocktails, glazes, and desserts.
Sod Farm (110,000 ft²)
Supplying the resort and golf course with fresh, lush turf, giving us a low-waste, on-site solution for projects and repairs.
Sustainability in Action
We use repurposed 30 and 55-gallon drums as thermal mass inside the greenhouse, collected from golf course superintendents across Vancouver Island.
All irrigation is controlled by smart electric valves - automated, efficient, and phone-controlled.
All annuals and vegetables are grown from seed, eliminating the need to purchase starts or imported plants.
Come Take a Tour
We now offer twice-weekly guided tours of the Pacific Patch, Wednesday at 1:30pm, and Saturday’s at 10:00am. Our Golf Course Superintendent, who helped create the garden from the ground up, personally leads the Wednesday tour. Come learn how your dinner was grown and discover just how much a golf course can grow beyond greens and fairways.
Ask our concierge to join a tour.
